Judy’s career in the dental industry has spanned over 30 years. After nearly 20 years as a registered dental assistant (RDA) in California working chairside with dentists providing care for patients, she transitioned into an education position at Pacific Dental Services where she spent well over a decade developing education programs, systems and processes. In the everchanging world of dentistry, Judy transitioned from education to recruiting representing the organization as the brand ambassador in the national dental assisting arena. Judy’s career working with state boards started in 2006 when she was appointed by then Governor Swarzennegger to the Committee on Dental Auxiliaries (COMDA) in the state of California. In 2008 she was voted Chair of the Committee and again in 2009. COMDA was abolished in 2009 placing the dental assistants under the Dental Board of California’s oversight. Judy was appointed by Governor Swarzennegger and Governor Brown to the Dental Board of California where she spent two full four-year terms. Judy was voted Board Secretary in 2014 and 2015, and served as Board Vice President in 2016. She has also been on the Dental Assisting Forum and Dental Assisting Council serving as Chair of the Dental Assisting Council in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Additionally, Judy has served on the Advisory Board for the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, this Board combines both of her passions, helping others and the clinical aspects of dentistry!
